The shopping and entertainment mall is one of the first and most
popular malls of St. Petersburg. The mall has acquired a high reputation
in the city since it was launched.
In January 2004 the one-storey pavilion was replaced by a new one
called “Piramida”, a three-storey building with an all-glass façade.
The shopping area of Piramida amounts to 6,000 m².
In the spring of 2004 the multifunctional shopping and entertainment
mall “Vernisazh” opened on the Balkanskaya Square with the total area of
over 11,000 m², including a Kronwerk Cinema multiplex, a slot-machine
parlor "Jackpot" and a few cafes. A Paterson supermarket was also
launched here.
At the same time with the construction of the “Vernisazh” a complete
outer and inner reconstruction of the “Passazh” began, which resulted in
a renovated pavilion with fully re-equipped interiors, in early autumn
of 2004. In September 2006 a new nine-storey building of the "Balkania"
was opened on the Balkanskaya Square, which hosted shops selling clothes
and footwear, a supermarket of goods for children "Bananamama", a book
supermarket “Bukvoyed” and an office centre. The central buildings of
the mall form a unified shopping space owing to interlinking transit
galleries.
